Ori Wald, MD, PhD (Cardiothoracic Surgery)

Ori Wald is a senior attending surgeon and a senior lecturer at the Hadassah Hebrew University Hospital in Israel. Dr. Wald is a board certified cardiac and thoracic surgeon who completed his residency at the Hadassah Hebrew University Medical Center. Prior to joining the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Hadassah Medical Center, he worked as an attending thoracic surgeon in the Division of Thoracic Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas, USA. Dr. Wald also holds a Ph.D from the Hebrew University for his research on tumor immune-biology.
Dr. Wald’s clinical focus is on the surgical treatment of a wide variety of benign and malignant thoracic tumors, including lung cancer, mesothelioma and malignant tumors of the mediastinum and chest wall, using both open and minimally invasive thoracic surgical procedures. His research efforts are focused on designing novel immune-based therapeutic approaches for malignancies of the chest and lungs. His work has appeared in peer-reviewed academic journals such as the Journal of Thoracic Oncology and the Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery and he has received numerous awards and grants including the Hadassah Early Carrier Best Scientist award and The Israeli Science Foundation Morasha research grant.
