Giovanna Rizzardi was born in Padua, Italy in May 30th, 1977. She was awarded the diploma in 1996 (classical studies).
From 1996 to 2002, she attended the medical school of University of Padua, where she graduated with full marks and honours in July 29th, 2002, discussing a graduation thesis on lung transplant. In June 2003, she got the Italian Certificate to Practice Medicine. She obtained the speciality in Thoracic Surgery with full marks and honours in January 2008 with a thesis titled: “Bronchial Carcinoid tumors new clinical-pathologic acquirement”.
From January 2008 to December 2009, she was enrolled in doctor’s degree in Cardio-vascular Science. From July 2008 to June 2012, she worked as consultant in Thoracic Surgery Unit at the S. Croce Cuneo hospital, Italy. From June 2012 up till now, she works as consultant in Thoracic Surgery Unit at Humanitas Gavazzeni, Bergamo, Italy. She is scientific manager of multidisciplinary group of thoracic oncology. She is an active member of Italian Society of Thoracic Surgeons. She attended 104 congress or training courses, one third of which as a speaker, tutor or scientific manager.
She wrote 99 publications and abstracts in Italian or international magazines. She performed more than 1000 thoracic surgery. Her fields of particular interests are minimally invasive thoracic surgery techniques-VATS, pulmonary neoplasms and broncho-vascular reconstructive techniques, surgery of mediastinal and pleural tumors, surgery of carcinoids.
