Tommaso Claudio Mineo, MD

Tommaso Claudio Mineo is Professor and Chief, Division of Thoracic Surgery at the Tor Vergata University of Rome since 1994. He graduated with honors in Rome from the University La Sapienza  Medical School in 1969. He obtained the certificate in General Surgery in 1974. He then became First Assistant Professor in the newly created division of Thoracic Surgery at the La Sapienza University of Rome with Prof.Costante Ricci, his mentor. In the same institution, he served as Associate Professor until 1986. He subsequently spent many years as a fellow and visiting professor as well in many international institutions including Karolinska  Institutet Stockholm,  Hospital Laennec Paris and Hospital Cantonal Geneve, Cancer Center Tokyo, General Hospital Toronto, MD Anderson Houston and Mount Sinai New York.

Professor Mineo dealt with main topics of thoracic surgery, specifically of the surgery of the thymus, of the emphysema, of the esophagus, of the lung cancer, of the tumors of the pleura and of the lung metastases. In the past decade, he created the Multidisciplinary Unit of Myasthenia Gravis at the Tor Vergata University Policlinico in Rome.

He is an author of more than 300 peer-reviewed publications for international journals in different fields of Thoracic Surgery.
