Lucio Cagini graduated with a medical degree in 1986 at the University of Perugia, Italy, and subsequently majored in General Surgery and General Thoracic Surgery. His professional growth has been characterized by frequent and prolonged periods of work research and study in several centers of excellence abroad and in Europe. He has acted as the first surgeon for hundreds of surgical procedures in general and in thoracic surgery. He is the author of hundreds of scientific papers regarding his fields of research, which includes tumor growth factors, the body reaction to surgical stress, extravascular lung water, thoracic trauma, surgical techniques, and pulmonary metastases. At present, he is an associate professor of thoracic surgery at the University of Perugia Teaching Hospital.
